This exemplifies the first shops in the villages which opened at the end of the last century. These shops sold a wide variety of culinary and household objects, as well as items for lighting and heating the home.
Foodstuffs were also sold including salt, coffee and sugar, along with various items of haberdashery such as bone and horn buttons, shirt collars, needles and thread.
